A 2023 Michigan State University study revealed that across 27,000 students, every one in six had a dietary restriction. In 2018, it was one in eight. Whether it be a religious or life-threatening issue, it's becoming clear that there is a prevalent need for an accessible, safer way for students to reliably get the food they deserve.
At UPlate, our mission is to empower students. And it doesn't have to stop at dietary restrictions.
Bottom line is, students deserve to take control of their nutrition.
Leading nutrition apps are finnicky when it comes to estimating the macros of obscure dining hall specific meals, and they often require tedious manual input. We are a team of 3 freshman CS students from Purdue University. Each of us is dedicated to revolutionizing how students interact with campus dining. UPlate started as a hackathon idea, but we realized that we had built something that people needed, and we decided to pursue it. We hope you like it!
